Olly Murs has predicted that both Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole may make a bit of a comeback on this year’s X Factor series.

Cowell left the ITV show, to launch his new US version, while Cole refused to rejoin the panel, after being sacked from the American series and replaced by Nicole Scherzinger.

However, new Xtra Factor presenter Olly Murs (who of course rose to fame in 2008, when he finished second behind eventual X Factor winner Joe McElderry) hopes we haven’t seen the last of either star and told Alex James on his In Demand radio show that they may return as guest mentors later in the year.

He said: “I’m really intrigued to know who are going to be the mentors this year. You can kind of guess, but I kind of have a theory on who it will be. I think Gary [Barlow] is going to have Simon [Cowell] possibly. I think it would be quite cool. I just feel that Simon will want to come back at some point, just to show his face.”

He added: “If he doesn’t then I think it will obviously be Robbie [Williams] or the Take That boys. He might get the groups. Imagine being in a group and then singing in front of the judges and it is Take That!”

On who new judge Kelly Rowland may choose to help her in judges houses, he continued: “For Kelly I would just love it to be Beyoncé. It would just be a dream come true. It would just be incredible.”

And surprisingly, Olly is hoping that Tulisa will shun her old N-Dubz band mates and choose Cheryl Cole as her assistant instead.

He said: “For Tulisa I think it would be predictable to get in N-Dubz – it’s not going to happen. I thought Cheryl (Cole) would be a good one. They’re good buddies now aren’t they?”
