The X Factor is due to launch in the USA on September 21, it has been revealed by telly giant FOX. The American debut will follow the premiere of eighth series of the UK show, currently pencilled in for August 20 on ITV1. Both shows will kick off with six episodes of auditions.

Like American Idol and The Voice, The X Factor in the states will air on two days, starting at 8PM on Wednesday, September 21 and continuing on Thursday at the same time. The series will feature auditions from across the country, including LA and Chicago with guest judge Cheryl Cole.

Meanwhile here in the UK and the latest series of the show – featuring new judges Kelly Rowland, Gary Barlow and Tulisa Contostavlos – is currently tentatively pencilled in by bosses to debut on Saturday, August 21.
