Katie Waissel has admitted that she feels sympathy for the contestants hoping to find fame on his year’s X Factor.
The 25-year-old took part in the talent show last year and found that it turned her life upside down.
She was accused of sleeping with Matt Cardle and then leaking the story to the newspaper, and her grandmother was exposed as being an 80 year-old-prostitute.
Waissel claims she is grateful for Simon Cowell for boosting her career but explained that the process was not easy.
Discussing how the contestants coped, Katie told asylum.co.uk: “We were all stressed out, we were all nervous.
“We couldn’t even trust the sandwich we were eating. There may have been a moment where we all felt close and in it together, but when we were alone in our beds with our heads down, we were completely alone.”
She added: “I’m sure the publicity team of the X Factor had a field day with us.
“But for me it got to the point where I walked into the director of the show’s office and to Simon and said: `You want to make me the f*****g villain of the show, then you pay me or I’m out.’”
Discussing those about to enter the reality show this year, she said: “People just forget it’s a cleverly edited TV show. I feel sorry for the poor b******s in it this year.”
