Telly bosses over here have snapped up the rights to screen the American show. But they don’t want it to overshadow their revamped British show, which kicks off only a few weeks earlier.
Executives are currently looking at airing the US version much later in 2011 – or even in 2012. An insider said: “The last thing bosses want is the American version taking attention away from the UK show.”
The US series sees Cowell joined on the judging panel by Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and LA Reid.
